Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair is organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council and CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Ltd. and co-organised by The Hong Kong Printers Association and Graphic Arts Association of Hong Kong. It will be held from April 28 to May 1, 2008 at AsiaWorld-Expo. More than 340 exhibitors showcased quality products and services to more than 10,000 visitors from 113 countries and regions at the 2007 event. As a result of this success, it is expected that 400 exhibitors will join the 2008 fair, including 3 group pavilions from Shenzhen, Zhejiang and Shanghai.

Top exhibitors from the Chinese mainland have confirmed their participation, 17 of them come from the "Top 100 Printing Firms" ranked by the Chinese mainland's "Printing Manager" magazine, namely Starlite Holdings Ltd., Luk Ka International Ltd., Hong Kong Yuto Printing Company Limited, Artron Enterprises (Group) Limited, Shanghai Zidan Printing Co., Ltd., Sunglo Printing Group Co., Ltd., Zhongshan Liford Nameplate Inc, Shanghai Tobacco Packing Printing Co., Ltd., The Shanghai People's Printing Factory No.8, Shanghai Printing Group, Man Sang Envelope Mfg Co.,Ltd, XinYa Investment Group of China, Shanghai Jielong Industry Group Corporation Limited, Shenzhen SGY Printing Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Nine Stars Printing and Packaging Group Ltd., Sichuan Yibin Push Group 3D Co., Ltd., and Zhongshan Zhongyong Products of Paper Printing Co., Ltd.

Major exhibit categories at the 2008 show include printing services, packaging services, printing consumables, packaging materials & accessories, printing & packaging equipment & systems, pre-press services, graphic arts and design services, finishing & coverting services, multimedia technologies and services, inkjet printing & signage production services, equipment & accessories, equipment repair & maintenance services and consultancy & training services.

Two product zones will return this year, enabling buyers to easily identify companies most relevant to their needs. The integrated pre-press sector is booming and, as such, the Integrated Pre-press Service Square helps buyers look for creative skills and technical expertise to foster world-class marketing and a stronger competitive edge. The Digital Printing & Office Automation Equipment Pavilion caters to industry players wanting to offer their customers flexibility, short lead times and customisation.

Hong Kong, together with Germany, Japan and US, are known as the "four printing centres" of the world. Thanks to its free flow of information and freedom of the press, a large number of local and international newspapers, journals, periodicals and religious books and textbooks can be printed in Hong Kong. Total exports of printed matters from Hong Kong reached US$2.46 billion (HK$19.19 billion) in 2007, a 10% increase over 2006. In the case of the packaging materials industry, the Chinese mainland is Hong Kong's largest export market, accounting for 57% of total exports in 2007. Export to other regions also performed well: exports to the EU and to ASEAN countries increased by 11% respectively, compared with 2006.

The fair not only acts as a platform for exhibitors and buyers, it is also important for information exchange. A series of seminars and forums, chaired and addressed by industry experts, will be held concurrently. The fair takes place in tandem with the Hong Kong International Auto Parts and Accessories Fair.
